She closed with Rimsky Korsakov Bumblebee and Kreisler arranged song. She and her father left Townsend Tuesday morning for New York.

School Budgets Submitted for Board Approval
Budgets from the school district are submitted to the county commissioners for approval. Increases are noted from preliminary figures, with some budgets incomplete but expected to be finalized by the final budget meeting in August. Lock to Bannack's First Jail Presented at Celebration
William Tash presented O A Bergeson with the original lock of Bannack's first jail at the public picnic and 85th anniversary celebration. The rock will be reaffixed once repairs finish. Volunteers replaced the caved roof and braced walls while dirt was shoveled out under Parke T. Scott's direction. The Bannack Restoration committee thanks Dillon residents for transportation support for Normal College students.

Haying Accident Victim Improves at Dillon Hospital
Vernon Peterson, 19, was rushed to Dillon Saturday with head injuries after a haying accident and remained unconscious on arrival. Dr. G R Routledge reports he is progressing. several other haying incidents were reported but none serious. Claude Lay visited Dillon over the weekend.

Dillon City Budget Raises Taxes by Six Mills
The Dillon city budget increases the tax levy by six mills to 27 mills total, funding salary raises for police, a new police car, street light power, library doubling to two mills, cemetery fund replacement of wooden pipes with cast iron, and minor department increases. Future Citizens to Attend Montana State Boy Scout Session
Montana will host 242 high school boys Aug 10 19 for the 49th state sponsored by the American Legion. From 53 counties they will learn government methods on the Montana State Normal College campus with lodging dining and medical staff. Sponsors include Legion posts and civic groups. Dillon sends six nominees with sponsors from local organizations. Two tours to Bannack Virginia City and Butte are planned alongside city visits with officials and a final barbecue hosted by the Dillon Chamber of Commerce.

Last Rites Held For Bertram Resident Clara Sorenson Bertram
Mrs. William Bertram of Helena died Thursday night in Galen after living in Helena for 12 years. Born 1910 on a Dillon area ranch, she was the former Clara Sorenson and worked at Montana Mercantile after high school. Funeral services were Monday at Opp Conrad Retz funeral home in Helena with interment in Forestvale Cemetery. She is survived by her husband William Bertram, two sisters in law and brothers in law, and numerous relatives. Dillon attendees listed include several local residents.

First Survey Made on System Lots Being Platted

The city repairs about 50 cemetery lots by removing sod and adding fertilized soil, planning reseeding this fall. Forest fires flare across forests with dozens of blazes
Forest officials report about 20 fires this past week due to dry conditions and storms. Two are man caused, the rest lightning. The Trail Creek blaze on the Montana Idaho line reached 55 acres and drew 76 fighters with two bulldozers before it was under control Monday morning.
