Thurman A. Steele, once labeled a mystery man, provided the first detailed account of events leading to the discovery of a Barrett Hospital patient unconscious near a highway on July 26. His written message to Dr. G. L. Routledge was released yesterday.

Forest planting by all major agencies in the United States last year restored 111 175 acres to tree growth according to the Forest Service USDA. Of this total 107 557 acres were on the continental United States with 2 084 in Hawaii and 1 534 in Puerto Rico. Reforestation involved 31 430 acres in 21 states and two territories.
Beaverhead county commissioners met in session to review the final budget figures. The meeting focused on expenditures and allocations for the upcoming fiscal year.
A Wyoming meeting of stockmen and bankers with a Federal Farm Board representative advanced a plan to form a five state giant livestock marketing association. Montana boards of county commissioners will meet on Wednesday August 6 to approve estimates for county expenses for the coming year. The budgets oversee spending totaling 10 167 146 00 for county purposes and taxpayers may voice input under the budget law. The Montana Taxpayers association notes rising county taxes and warns 1929 costs exceeded 1928 by 549 275 000 dollars.
Beaverhead county fair marks the semi centennial with a grand parade featuring Indian units from Fort Hall Idaho and floats on county history. Commencement exercises for the summer class of the Montana State Normal College will be held at the college auditorium next Wednesday morning with diplomas conferred on 48 seniors. Professor Robert Clark will deliver the address. a musical program will be presented. Activities begin with the senior dinner Sunday. Genevieve Silk will preside.
The Dillon volunteer fire department announces a high class boxing card for August 23 at city hall auditorium headlined by Wege O Leary of Butte and Emile Senclo. The 10 round bout and support fights feature rapid action as promoter Lee Hoerning predicts one of the fastest fifty encounter nights.
Rev. F. X. Lechner of St. Rose Catholic church told the Dillon Rotary club that communism is an increasing menace in Europe. He said unemployment is worse on the continent and the financial mood is low as Europe shifts toward Americanized tastes and sports. A. Bergeson chaired, with T. Hi. Luebben named next week's chair.
RS Margaret Courtney, longtime Dillon resident of North Washington street, died Friday morning after a lingering illness. (Continued on page 8).
About 30 Boy Scouts from Dillon camp at Miners Lake in the Big Hole basin for their yearly outing. Transported by cars donated by Dillon citizens, they arrived last Sunday and report a grand time. Field Executive A L Krause leads the camp with W B Hartwig and Harry Williams assisting. Activities include swimming fishing and hiking in a forest setting with an outdoor kitchen run by Mrs Harry Williams and a large tent used as the mess hall.
