Dillon Boy Slips Prison Then Captured in Idaho
Thomas Lee Alley, a 20 year old Dillon native serving a year for grand larceny, escaped from a Montana prison farm near Deer Lodge last Wednesday night. He stole a 1939 Ford with Nebraska plates, then hijacked another car near Seattle after his first vehicle ran out of gas. Police in Montana and Idaho tracked him across state lines, with the FBI joining the case. a roadblock in Idaho ended the pursuit and Deer Lodge officials brought him back to Montana in Twin Falls.

The Dillon City Band directed by A. H. Hartwig will give its third summer concert on the south depot lawn at 7 30 p m. It has accepted invitations to play for the V J day observance Monday evening August 14 and at the buffalo barbecue at Boys State Sunday afternoon August 20 1950. The band may perform at two more city events and plans a final outdoor concert on Tuesday August 14 with guest conductors.

Elder Beaverhead Resident John C. Brock Dies at 84
John C. Brock 84 a longtime Beaverhead County resident died last Saturday morning July 29 at the McDonald home in Alder. Born in Weiser Idaho November 3 1865 he came to the county in 1911 and worked as a blacksmith and harness maker on ranches including the Pascal Bimat. Funeral services were held at Brundage chapel yesterday at 2 p m with Rev. Robert N. Johnstone officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery. Little is known of surviving relatives, though a California half brother a Burley Idaho brother in law and a Washington niece are sought.

Richard Hughes of Portland pleaded guilty to stealing gasoline from a truck at the Kenneth Iverson garage in Lima on July 15 and received six months in jail. Ray I. The Beaverhead Sportsmen's Association with Game Warden Charles Price completed a planting drive totaling over 100000 fish in county streams. Between June 26 and July 19 about 4700 pounds of rainbow trout were released, plus 37000 three inch rainbows on July 26. Loch Laven and native stock were added in July from Bozeman and Anaconda hatcheries, and pheasants were released from Warm Springs with 680 brood stock planted this year. Trout went into Birch Willow Sage Sheep Horse Prairie Grasshopper Black Tail and Beaverhead River. Memberships fund the program, with tickets available from association officers. Montana fish and game also reports stocking of the Big Hole river system with rainbow Loch Laven and grayling up to July 1.

Through July 22 the Lima port of entry counted 3811 out of state vehicles versus 3622 a year ago, with Albert Erickson noting a peak tourist year for Montana. Glacier, Yellowstone, Virginia City, Lewis and Clark Cavern and Custer Battlefield show ahead, while California, Idaho and Utah drivers lead at U S Highway 91. In 1949 nearly two million visitors spent $65,194,801 in the Treasure State.

Forger Olson Sentenced to Three Years in State Penitentiary
