W E Johnson of Dillon was arraigned before U S Commissioner L M Van Etten in Butte on liquor charges after officers found a 30 gallon still and moonshine in his basement. He posted $1000 bond for appearance in Federal court, facing counts of distilling, concealing spirits, and possessing unstamped alcohol.

Early lamb sales indicate prices near 1941 level

Draftee Party Set At City Hall Saturday Night

The B P W club of Dillon raised 1721.61 for cemetery work with 738.61 in First National Bank and 983 in State Bank. They obtained a deed to half a cemetery lot to sell for more funds. No Saturday School Next Year Plans Hour Longer Days
To avoid Saturday sessions at the high school next year the plan is to extend the daily schedule to 4:00 PM. Officials say the almost hour longer day will allow a shorter term and ease the term length, per an announcement in Beaver this week.
Dillon Declares Cleanup Week May 2 Finish
This is Cleanup Week in Dillon from April 25 to May 2 proclaimed by Mayor Bert Megquier and Police Chief Elza Patrick. Death of Brother Calls Dillon Man to Billings Home
John Selvidge, manager of the Dillon Furniture store, learned yesterday that his brother Willard died of a heart attack in a Billings hospital. His mother had been in the same hospital for weeks after injuries from an accident, and his father was there Monday for an operation. Willard, visiting his parents, suffered the fatal seizure.

Officers End Search After Thief Suspect
Last Sunday Sheriff Paul Temple and Inspector D W Erwin arrested Tom Nowlin near Sheridan after months of pursuit for horse theft. Nowlin, held in Madison county, was turned over to Silver Bow county officers and allegedly stole a fine saddle mare from Andrew Tysel of Divide in 1940. The animal was recovered at Mack’s Inn near West Yellowstone and returned to the owner. Nowlin faces trial for the alleged theft and related similar cases in the Big Hole Basin.

The Montana association of American University Women concluded a two day convention at the Normal College residence hall in Dillon. President A L Strand of Montana State College and Norman Winestine of Helena spoke at the banquet. Jean Bishop presided.
