Legion District Convention Set For June 13 Here
Supt Paul Anderson urged keeping civilian morale high and avoiding war jitters at Mizpah chapter meeting. He stressed healthy recreation for youth and useful activity for adults while planning for postwar peace. Beaverhead Post will host the Mining District convention of the Legion in Dillon on June 13, replacing the Sheridan Post as host. Delegates will be chosen at the Metlen hotel meeting as Memorial Day plans are finalized.

Lorrayne Pierce was chosen president of Beaverhead County High School student association in the May 1 election. She will be a senior next year and is the first girl to hold the office. James Barrett is vice president, Dolores Williams secretary, Chickie Ross treasurer, Charles Deputy business manager, and Betty Blythe Stephan yell leader. They assume duties when school resumes.

Dillon and Havre gun clubs remain tied for first after Dillon beat Missoula and Livingston while Havre defeated its rivals last Sunday. John Jackson and Leslie Smith posted perfect strings at Dillon. Ted Renfro shot third at Sheridan. Jackson then drilled 50 in a row to clinch the day's drama. Contingent Leaves for Army Tests
Hundreds of county residents bid Godspeed to the second largest Army examination contingent from the local Selective Service board. A second chartered bus joined the first to transport the men to Missoula. Some proceeded to Fort Douglas Utah for induction while others awaited transfer inductions in their home localities. Arthur Wesley Scollick was among those called in the contingent.

Early Day Resident Dora Hart Dies in Los Angeles
Dora Hart of Dillon died in Los Angeles on a heart attack. Surviving are husband Mortimer Hart, children George and Edward, siblings Charles Nelson and extended Nelson family in Dillon, with funeral plans and travel home to attend services. Mrs Hart had been born in Iowa and lived in Dillon since 1880 after traveling in a wagon with her family.

Dr and Mrs W H Stephan depart for a fortnight East visiting Mendota Illinois and Iowa City to witness son Robert J Stephan’s dental school graduation at the University of Iowa and his marriage to Miss Virginia Beatrice Best of Shelby Iowa on May 12 at the Cathout home in Iowa City. The ceremony starts at 8 p m with a reception to follow. The bride is a Shelby High School and Browns Commerce college graduate and the groom has study in dentistry at Iowa University. The couple plan to reside in Dillon after the wedding.

A large turnout of relatives and friends from all county sections attended a draftee send off at city hall on Saturday evening. Wheat Marketing Quota Plan Opposed in Beaverhead County
In Beaverhead County 15 farmers voted 9 to 6 against the national wheat marketing quota plan in a referendum held at city hall last Saturday. The local poll was announced by Floyd Kenison, with eligibility based on 1942 production estimates of at least 200 bushels or 15 or more acres planted to wheat.

The first season arrest under permit rules requires burning permits from the local forest office or rangers.
