April term docket for district court with no jury

Judge J. B. Poindexter will convene the April term Monday morning. No jury will attend. He will hear citizenship applications and a long civil docket including Wood Livestock Co vs Bonnaview Reservoir Co water rights cases, debt suits, injunctions and foreclosures among many others.

Dillon Publishes Fourth Biennial City Directory

The BR L Polk Co issues the Dillon city directory listing a population of 4,000 and a 11,000 supporting territory. It touts Dillon as metropolitan for its size with strong schools, broad streets, solid business blocks, and a major gravity water system costing 75000. The Montana Normal College trains teachers on a ten acre campus.

Av er y Returns From Joliet Winter Visit to Montana

Thaddeus Avery spent winter with his daughter in Joliet Illinois and returned to Virginia City Montana on Friday. He enjoyed the visit but prefers Montana where he says decent weather prevails. Joliet saw temperatures near 25 below zero at times and around 10 below for extended periods.

Store Is Robbed At Armstead The Glen

The Glen Decker general merchandise store at Armstead was robbed last Saturday night with goods valued at $200 or more stolen. Five offenders were suspected. three have been captured and jailed. A first suspect named Henry Daniels, a mixed race man, was caught near Cilen and sold items to Greek and Jap railroad gangs. Two others were nabbed at Melrose and Divide, named Sam Brown and Rank Burns, both nineteen, admitting theft but denying robbery involvement.

Theatre Changes Hands In Dillon As Rollie Howell Takes Over

Wm Lloyd sells Grand Theatre in Dillon to Rollie Howell the local blind musician. The house closes Sunday for changes and will reopen Tuesday with the same policy of high class independent pictures music and courteous treatment. Admission remains 10 cents. Howell promises continued high standards and daily program changes.

Stolen Horse Recovered in Butte Case Ties to Local Resident

Stock Inspector Lon Guy pursues Mr. Smith of Madison County over a theft from Mrs. Julia Selway’s ranch north of Dillon. The horse moved to Butte, was sold to Dr. Bergerman for 75 dollars, then to a Butte woman for 100. Warren Selway recovered the animal and brought it back to Dillon. authorities say proof against Smith is positive and arrest is imminent.
