Last Saturday evening the new school board for District No 10 was organized with Leonard Eliel re elected as chairman after years in that role. R F Tattersall was re elected clerk, serving over twenty years. Linden McCullough, the superintendent, reported improved attendance since the measles epidemic and continued growth and progress of the school.
Warrant Issued for Colonel Coombs in Quarantine Break
A warrant was issued last Friday for Colonel Coombs of Wisdom charged with a misdemeanor for breaking smallpox quarantine. He allegedly left his lodgings after quarantine and moved to another place, risking further spread of the disease.

Pioneer of Montana dies in East at 81
Henry Knippenberg, a Montana constitutional convention member and former Hecla Mining Co. executive, died at his daughter’s home in Short Hills New Jersey at age 81. He moved to Montana in 1881, later led Hecla Mining, served in the legislature, and was secretary of the framers of the Montana constitution. He is survived by his wife a daughter and a son.

Dillon Pupils Win Honors in Penmanship Survey
In a penmanship survey by the Normal college upper four grades of Montang schools were judged. Four of the five top scores came from Dillon training school pupils. Virginia Randolph scored 83.7 in grade 6, Alma Christenson 80.6, June Roe 74.6 in grade 8, and Georgia Metlen 74.5 in grade 8. A Glendive pupil also scored 74.6. Highest grades were Glendive 8th with 52, Dillon and Whitefish 8th with 51, and Dillon 6th with 60.
