Daniel McCarthy was found guilty of second degree assault and sentenced to three years in Deer Lodge state prison by Judge Poin dexter. He armed himself with a .41 Colt at the Medicine Lodge depot over unpaid wages dispute with Hans Pederson, but Lebo intervened and disarmed him. The weapon discharged but only a silver dollar in Lebo’s pocket was hit. McCarthy was later arraigned in the justice court.

County Board Sets Bridge Bid Date and Appointments
At a special county commissioners meeting in the courthouse, the Divide inter county bridge plans were accepted and bids for the bridge and a concrete bridge were ordered. Bids close Friday May 29 at 10 o clock am with Beaverhead and Silver Bow counties to open bids jointly. Carl M Roode to draft vaultage room plans for June session. jail repairs not acted on. Charles A Enlow and James McKnight Sr were named justices of the peace for Lima and Dell townships. The board adjourned at noon.

Broken leg ends Dillon musician's night ride
Rowland Howell known blind musician nicknamed Rolly was driven eight miles east of Dillon during a storm when the wagon dropped into a ditch. He jumped clear breaking a bone in his right leg and was taken to Dillon for care before being moved to Murray's hospital in Butte.

Norman Holden county assessor was assaulted in a dispute with Perry Waters, a dry land farmer, outside Forest Bayerd's cigar store. Waters struck Holden on the face causing a scalp gash and financial loss of 26 dollars after a long standing feud. Waters pled guilty in justice court citing years of bitter feeling.

Assault case in Justice Court ends with fines
Ed Mitchell a colored porter employed at the Lobby pool hall pled guilty to assaulting H L Alder in justice court last Saturday afternoon. Alder faced a peace disturbance charge and was granted until 7 30 p m to answer before Judge Phillips who released him with a light fine. A witness said Alder entered the pool hall early and provoked Mitchell by claiming a short change and was knocked out after a shouting match. Both men were arrested by Chief Sasaman.

Helena April 16 Supreme court rules railroads liable for damages when a passenger train fails to stop after being flagged. E L Burles of Beaverhead county and his wife were delayed at Barrett station for 10 hours en route to a hospital. Mrs Burles died after reaching Butte. The ruling affirms damages against the Oregon Short Line for the delay and missed stop.

Died at County Poor Farm After Prolonged Illness
William Walters aged about 85 died Sunday morning at the County Poor farm after a lengthy illness of dronay. He had been a inmate for three weeks and previously worked on the Poindexter & Orr ranch south of Dillon. Authorities located a brother Nick in Ironwood Michigan, but he had departed for party unknown. The funeral was held yesterday at Brundage's Undertaking rooms and burial was in Mountain View cemetery.

Steals Pair of Shoes Charged In Justice Court
Frank Lund, a vagrant, appeared before Justice Kenison for stealing a pair of shoes from a Chinaman. He pleaded not guilty claiming he found them, but evidence proved guilt beyond a doubt. Lund was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail or an hour to leave town and chose to quit the city.

Sells Three Hundred Steers From Big Hole Basin
