Dillon Gun Club Leads State Telegraphic Trapshoot
Dillon Gun Club fired a perfect 75 on Sunday to lead the Montana Standard state telegraphic trapshooting tournament for the fourth straight week. Members Ted Renfro Everett Peterson Pete Westergard and Joe Lynch posted long runs and standout scores as Dillon defeated Havre 75 74 and Paradise 75 72 in the Montana event while tying Boise Ogden and beating Cald well and Walla Walla in Idaho. Pres Joe Lynch led the club with a 49x50 run after a 25 straight, with runners up Everett Peterson Pete Westergard and Tige Tallent.

Local Pupils Stage Historical Play at Assembly
Children of the Training School performed an historical play Gerraine Page Squire Knight and Vassal at the college auditorium on Wednesday April 13 under Mrs Hollensteiner. The program included a folk dance and stumbling acts directed by Miss Hellman and opened with a piano solo Country Gardens by Bernice Erickson. Patty Stamm announced that the first act would show Gerraine’s path to becoming a page.

Beaverhead Montana county commissioners met April 4 1938 in regular session at 9 00 a m with W B Hartwig chairman Edgar B Rife and Clerk Albert S Baker present. Jackson arrived later and the minutes of the last regular session and the March 16 extra session were read and approved. Official bonds and depository securities received quarterly approval as filed with clerk and treasurer. The terms of leases were discussed.

Butte police radio broadcast led to the arrest of Walter Hunter 16 and Bill Martin 18 near Gillette Wyoming. They were wanted for allegedly stealing Eddie Papetti’s car from its front yard and had abandoned another Idaho-licensed vehicle on North Washington Street. Sheriff Tex Martin recognized the car from the broadcast.

Health Projects Displayed In Local Dillon Stores
The rural school health project under County Nurse Margaret Halloran and Superintendent Neil Doyle ends April 27. Displays will be shown in Dillon store windows on April 30 May 1 and 2. A bathroom scale donated by the Red Cross is first prize. Judges are Mary Baker Jean Ballard and Mrs W J Bierrum.

Dates fixed on grazing in Montana
With the time near for moving livestock to summer grazing the AAA has announced deferred grazing dates for Montana under the 1938 AAA range conservation program. County Agent Bernard R. Williams announced this week. The dates for deferred grazing in Montana are April 15 to August 31 inclusive. Deferred grazing is one of the most important features of this year's AAA range program.

Mrs. Kate Banning, longtime Dillon resident born in Fort Scott Kansas September 7 1887, died suddenly at her South Atlantic Street home after forty years in Dillon. Survived by husband Lycurgis Banning and five children, two brothers, two sisters, funeral plans not set.

Danish-born ranch laborer Emil Rasmussen found dead near Dillon
Gorm Emil Rasmussen, 40, a Bea verhead County ranch hand, was discovered in a bunkhouse on the Berg Christensen ranch three miles south of Dillon. He died by hanging after self-inflicted cuts, with authorities noting poor health. Rasmussen had recently returned from Denmark and became a U.S. citizen five years ago. Funeral services were held at Brundage Funeral Home with Rev. A. W. Nelson officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery.

First Snake Hunt Season Opens in Beaverhead
Beaverhead reports the first rattlesnake hunt of the season led by Jack Keenan. A Sunday trek in Hogback north of Dillon yielded 15 snakes. A larger party will follow next Sunday, with Keenan again leading the effort.

Dillon students joined a Masonic Education Week event at the Masonic hall last Friday evening. Supt. Charles Henry spoke on American Education, Ideal or Fantasy, joined by Miss Genevieve Albertson from the Normal college faculty.
