Dillon Scout Earns Eagle Badge Sunday
David Curry son of Dr and Mrs R D Curry received the Eagle Scout badge at a court of honor Sunday afternoon in the county court room. At 13 he is the youngest Dillon Scout to earn the honor though six others have previously achieved it. Rabbi Joseph Gitin of Butte delivered the main address on Scout laws and daily life. Percy Frazier Scout executive for the Silver Bow area spoke briefly. A flag ceremony and pledge to the flag were part of the program.

Joe Bacon won first prize in the American Legion auxiliary essay contest announced at a high school assembly. Earl Fairbanks took second and John McGahan third, with prizes of 5, 3 and 1 dollars. Thirty seven students participated. judges were Miss Genevieve Albertson Miss Anne Feley and Mrs. T E Gilbert. The subject was The Spirit of Fidae as Exemplified by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Sheriff Paul H. Temple, hailed by locals as a future Olympic prospect, won a three block sprint after pursuing two youths who attempted battery theft from a truck on Atlantic street. Roy Hudson and Roy Simmons pled guilty to petty larceny and received six months in county jail.

Dillon Gun club posted six 25s and a 75 to defeat Sheridan 75 73 in the opening round of the Montana Standard telegraphic shoot. The club also led in the Idaho Statesman event, tied for second with Walla Walla Spokane and Butte after three straight 75s.

Orchestra Plans April Recitals in Bozeman and Dillon
The Little Symphony Orchestra will give two April recitals in Bozeman with the Men’s Glee Club and Mixed Quartet at Normal College auditorium and in the State College gymnasium. A spring concert Friday April 22 features the Men’s Glee Club Mixed Quartet and Little Symphony. The group then performs Sunday April 24 in Bozeman, joined by the State College orchestra for a seventy member finale, and will stage a Dillon concert May 22. The Little Symphony totals thirty three members this quarter, six of whom are new.
