Fort Owen Excavations Aim to Reveal Early Montana History
Fort Owen in the Bitterroot Valley will host a pilot archaeological and historical survey starting in April. MSU archaeologists and Montana groups will search post holes to map the original stockade fort and seek evidence of the 1841 St Marys mission, while linking the site to the Fort Owen ledger and regional trade figures.
