City Council Concludes Regular Session Weighs Curfew

City council met Wednesday with Mayor Cornell and aldermen Anderson Scully Bower Waldorf Woodside Lloyd Eliel present. Department reports filed. Curfew brought up for discussion. Budget items, including truck purchase, referred to fire and order committee. Multiple bids audited and approved for supplies salaries and election expenses.

Dillon Pleasure Seekers Return From California Snowstorms

Dillon residents who vacationed in Florida and California are returning home to freezing weather and snow. Local travelers report long trips and healthful visits while officials discuss curfew enforcement and possible ordinances to keep children at home at night.

Death of Mrs Katherine Fitzharris Widow of Local Teamster

Mrs Katherine Fitzharris a longtime Dillon resident died at her home after several weeks illness at age sixty five. Funeral service was held at St Rose Church with Father Foley and burial at Mountain View beside her three children. She was born in Tipperary Ireland and came to the United States as a young woman living in Wyoming Cheyenne and Dillon. Survived by daughters Mrs William Climer and Mrs Josie Kellerher and son Richard Nolan all of Dillon. son Michael died at age twelve and two daughters died in the 1918 influenza epidemic.

Twilight league formed for four team baseball

A Monday Beaverhead Legion meeting approved a four team Twilight league with two games weekly at 6 30 PM no Sunday games. A baseball commission of three to six members including LeRoy Beam Hiram Brundage and Harry Gimble was to study business and fan support and report that evening at the Legion club rooms. Dillon fans show strong interest and another meeting was urged.

Still Found in Cellar at Mahalisch Ranch Home

George Mahalisch, Beaverhead valley rancher, arrested for violating state liquor laws after a small still was found in his cellar. He pleaded not guilty and posted $260 bond. C. N. Roberts, earlier charged with liquor possession, pled guilty and paid a $100 fine.

Dillmont Park Opens Monday Under McGrath Lease

Bud McGrath has leased Dillmont park for the coming season and vows a record season at Dillon's amusement resort. The D A R ladies will open with a dance on Easter Monday April 17 with the Baxter Tonney orchestra. The highway to Dillmont will be upgraded and many picnics and outings are planned, with Dillon groups given priority on dates.

Salmon Creamery Placed Under Receiver Authority

Davis of the Citizens' National Bank appointed receiver as Salmon Creamery passes into receivership with debts over 13000. The bank is the chief creditor and papers transferring property are enacted this week. Creamery will still buy from producers while the old company effectively dissolves.

County fair and entertainment planned for Dillon this fall

Beaverhead County residents' survey shows majority favor an annual county fair with entertainment in Dillon this fall. Voters propose baseball races livestock exhibits and wild west elements while some oppose wild west and prefer economical, self supporting events. others want mixed programs or a simple fair.

Renfro Tops Amateur Trapshooters With State Records

Centennial valley resident Ted Renfro tops the 1921 trapshooting season with three state records and a top national run of 295. He held amateur singles and doubles titles, the all round championship, and ranked seventh nationally in targets, with other long runs noted. He plans to begin practice for a two day shoot at Gregson Springs May 20-21 and the state shoot June 22-26 in Butte or Gregson Springs.

Irrigation Districts Set Rules for Assessments and Directors

The 1921 law requires charges only on irrigable lands within districts and in proportion to irrigable area. A topographical survey under the district engineer will map irrigable lands, excluding non irrigable or unusable lands from costs. Directors must be chosen from landholders within each subdivision, reside in the county, and own land in the subdivision.

Easter Services Across Local Churches

Special Easter services will be held in city churches with music and programs for all ages. Methodist-Presbyterian Federated Church outlines sunrise events, a 10:00 a.m. Sunday school Easter program, and 11:00 a.m. sermon on Applications of the Resurrection. St James Episcopal plans Holy Communion at 7:30 a.m. and an 11:00 a.m. service with festive music and a 4:00 p.m. children’s carol service. First Baptist hosts a 10:00 a.m. Easter program with songs and recitations, a morning sermon on the Resurrection, and an evening musical program by L. A. Gregory and choir.

A Dillon Rotary Club charter was received today at noon and the group is expected to organize within the next month. The local business and civic leaders are poised to form the new service club.

Anglers' Club Granted Bedrock River Fishing Access

A. O. Vachon, secretary of the Anglers' club, announced the state game commission granted the club's request to open Bedrock river for fishing. The commission also opened Big Hole, Beaverhead, Jefferson and Madison rivers for fishing, but not their tributaries.

Funeral for Joseph Schumacher Set in Dilion

Remains shipped from La Grande Oregon to Dilion for burial. Schumacher a former mining man of Argenta district. Wife and other relatives are buried locally. Funeral scheduled for tomorrow afternoon April 13 at 2 o'clock.

Reform School Move For Two Denny Boys

W E Stephenson returned from Miles City where he placed the two Denny boys in the state reform school. The trip was uneventful and the clerk of the court left the youngsters pleased with their new home and school.
