Arrival of First Trains at Anaconda and Butte
The 1880s rail era brought Anaconda and Butte into steam with the first narrow gauge line crossing the continental divide via Monida. Early freighters, varied outfits, and the rise of the Utah and Northern connections forged Montana commerce. Notable figures include How ard Sebree and B F White who helped establish banks and state leadership as Anaconda grew into a railroad town by 1884.
