Lenroot Starts Ball Rolling for La Follette in North Dakota

Congressman Lenroot of Wisconsin launched the La Follette presidential campaign in Ramsey County court house. He urged progressives to test converts, warned against compromise, and praised LaFollette’s role in Wisconsin and other states. Devils Lake approves 33000 bond for electric plant

A four hundred eighty five vote turnout produced 327 in favor and 156 against a $33,000 bond for a city electric light plant in Devils Lake. Two spoiled ballots, two thirds threshold met by 322 votes, and party spirit marked the special election amid a lively postvote celebration and a later community sale notice in Fargo.

The Devils Lake Commercial Club will host a get acquainted party and smoker at the club rooms tonight to extend welcome to eighty new members. Among the newly joined is Forman-Hertha Sanakken, 24, a domestic worker at the J. D. McKenzie home, who died from carbolic acid, reportedly expressing she wanted to die.

North Dakota Farmers Report Record Flax Yields Across State

Reports received at the North Dakota Publicity Bureau in Grand Forks highlight strong 1911 yields and profits from flax and barley. Clarence Mackey near Minot harvested 800 bushels of flax from 40 acres, averaging 20 bushels per acre at $2.20 per bushel. A. C. Dayton of Glenburn notes 800 acres averaging 16 bushels per acre, projecting about $28,000. August Tampke near Deering thr eshed 1,500 bushels from 100 acres earning $3,200, with farm value paying for land bought two years ago. J. B. Taylor near Minot produced 1,600 bushels of barley from 40 acres at $1 per bushel, about $40 per acre. A. D. Tomlinson of Eady county reports 720 bushels from 25 acres of No. 1 flax, about 29 bushels per acre, netting over $64 per acre at current flax prices.

Narrow Escape at Tracks as Farmer Leaps to Safety

Hans Rustom, a prominent farmer, suffered severe bruises after leaping across the Great Northern tracks near Keith to avoid an oncoming locomotive. He was found by train crew with his horse and demolished buggy on the far side, and taken to Devils Lake General Hospital where he is recovering. D. D. Sullivan, an optical specialist, will visit Fort Totten and Devils Lake to offer eye exams and eyewear on November 24 and 25. Edmore reports a bumper flax crop with fields yielding twenty bushels or more per acre and up to 200 loads hauled to elevators daily. locals credit favorable conditions and Roode tropa.

Vena Ghezick Settles For 100 Dollars With City

Vena J Chezick who earlier alleged injuries from a sidewalk obstruction in front of the Great Northern hotel will settle with Devils Lake city for 100 dollars. The council voted to pay, and Police Chief Barnes was instructed to ensure obstructions are removed or boxed. Nearby street light pipes were enclosed and bolts removed from Fifth Street sidewalk.
