Blue Ribbon Boys Win First in Wire Campaign

Austin's Blue Ribbon Boys claim victory in the Devile Lake Commercial club membership drive, adding 74 new members and 1425 dollars to the treasury. The Stotlar Flynn Colts trailed by seven votes. 285 votes were cast at 35 dollars each, with 53 new members and 730 dollars for the Blue Ribbon group and 31 new members and 695 dollars for the Colts. A post campaign banquet is planned, and observer Ludwig Eng of Balaton, Minnesota notes crop hardships but praises North Dakota.

Ramsey county Superintendent J. A. Haig urged closer cooperation between parents and teachers at a Penn meeting. Progressives Line Up in Cass County for La Follette

In Cass County at the Commercial Club in Faribault progressives organized a local branch of the National Progressive Republican League. Over 100 men attended as Congressman Helgesen praised La Follette and critiqued Taft. Judge Hanson read resolutions, and Treadwell Twichell urged duty in organizing progressive principles. The group subscribed to the league constitution endorsing La Follette and backing a modern governor candidate.

New Athletic Club forms in Devils Lake town

Commercial travelers and local gym lovers have organized an athletic club and outfitted a gym behind the Great Northern Hotel. Equipment includes a fine mat, dumb bells, boxing gloves, horizontal bars, punching bags, and more. A Tuesday town meeting was held in Tokio. Local residents including Mr and Mrs John Thompson from Warwick and Mrs Albert Jaqua from Devils Lake were seen in town. Rugby High Falls to Devils Lake in Rough, Noisy Tilt

Rugby high school suffered a 26 to 10 defeat to Devils Lake high school in a late start afternoon game marred by rough play. Spectators included many co-eds who cheered, while Devils Lake used effective forward passes and speedy ends to dominate outsized Rugby on a windy, fading light afternoon.

North Dakota Debating league pairs 21 high schools

Twenty one North Dakota high schools will compete in the annual Debating league tournament. Debates start December and conclude May 17 in Grand Forks. Pairings include Oakes vs Wahpeton, Devils Lake vs Michigan, Kenmare vs Williston, St Thomas vs Grafton, Hatton vs Park River, Valley City vs Buffalo, Hillsboro vs LaMoure, Minot vs Harvey, and Westhope vs Rug by. Bismarck entered the race for the winter, with many professional entertainers and local acts slated November 2.
