A three member committee led by A Luros E M Crary and F R Stevens aimed to raise 300 to 400 dollars to buy a small chemical engine. After canvassing the town, a five member committee was formed to pursue bids from two companies but a Tuesday meeting devolved into mutual accusations of fraud and no engine purchase occurred.
