Awful Fate at Triquois Theatre Fire Tragedy
A matinee fire at the Triquois theatre on Wednesday caused about six hundred deaths and many injuries. A defective electric wire ignited the scenery and an asbestos curtain failed. Panic and a gas explosion followed as doors blocked and suffocation and trampling deaths occurred. Most victims were women and children.
