Wm H Brown Company invites buyers to Mandan ND to purchase 60 acres in one block at 6.25 per acre. The land features rolling terrain, a hill, a bank barn possibility, year round water, rich soil, nutritious grass, and nearby fuel. Potential homestead adjacent and hotel investment noted. Public viewings suggested as snow melts.
Chicago dispatch reports Christopher Olson from Maddock North Dakota was arraigned before Justice Mayor on a financial crime charge. Olson’s 14 year old daughter, present with him, told her aunt of the alleged guilt. He is held on $800 bond.
Dr. Herran and Gen. Reyes announce they will resign their Washington posts if Secretary Hay does not grant Colombia the satisfaction it seeks regarding Panama. They seek an early reply and even hint at submitting the dispute to The Hague if denied. Cris Botenay sought word on Hay's decision amid the secretary's illness.
A Washington dispatch reports Secretary Hitchcock will soon order the abolition of the Devils Lake North Dakota Indian Agency as the allotment finishes. Avent Getchell will be succeeded by Charles L. Davis, a bonded school superintendent, with Senator Hansbrough in agreement.
Mrs. Willam Graves is fatally shot by her husband after a quarrel that began Sunday night. Graves, who had been away six months, claimed jealousy toward a Canadian farmer named William Waugh as motive. He was arrested and sent to Minot. two young daughters are now motherless.
The Grand Forks land office recommends to the General Land Office that E M Crary be disbarred from practicing before the interior department after a full hearing. J B Wineman petitioned for Crary's disbarment alleging conduct unbecoming an attorney and deception re Eggleston case. Anderson has filed a district court suit seeking 300 attorney fees as Crary’s associate in the Eggleston against Link matter.
