Fire hits Grand Opera House last Saturday evening
An alarm at about 6 15 pm sent the Grand opera house fire department to a blaze in the building. Smoke poured from the front door but only minor damage occurred due to quick water streams. The fire likely started in kindling between the typ hoppers and spread to the ceiling above the Nadine Piano Co rooms. The Nadine Piano Co sustained little smoke damage covered by insurance. The blaze was discovered by Jo Jilk who reported dense smoke and called the alarm. The theater is fortified with a masonry barrier and an asbestos curtain, with seven exits.
