Walton TDC Celebrates Victory in South Walton Tax Referendum
Walton County Tourist Development Council members cheered approval of a 2-1 bed tax in South Walton by 409 to 305 in the runoff. Revenue of about 400,000 yearly, starting after 1987, will fund off-season advertising and beach improvements. The group will replace the marketing director and form two subcommittees to guide advertising and beach work. A professional firm will be hired for surveys and campaign development to attract visitors in the off-season.
