Mediation Sessions Underway In Okaloosa Teacher Talks
Federal mediator Lee Skillman met Monday with the OCEA and School Board as negotiations over a new contract remain at impasse. Salaries top the dispute with proposals averaging 2.61 percent by the board and 9.9 percent by the OCEA, while teachers seek a 30 minute daily lunch break, return to a six period day, and equalized contact time of 250 minutes daily with students across all grades. The $13,600 starting salary is noted. Skillman will hold separate closed sessions until a resolution is found.
