Fisheries meetings set to discuss king mackerel limits
The Marine Fisheries Commission schedules public workshops Wednesday to Friday December 10 to 12 at the Airport Regency Hotel in Miami to discuss saltwater issues. Proposals include a two fish per person daily bag limit in state waters and a 50 fish per boat limit for commercial hook and line fishermen until the federal quota is reached. The panel also weighs redfish harvest restrictions and possible longer closed seasons, size increases to 18 inches in the Panhandle, gear limits, and long-term redfish management. They will also probe tarpon bonefish bycatch and Snook rule amendments with sessions open to the public.
