New Deputy Joins Destin Police Effort on Street Patrols
Deputy Donavon Kinney began work November 18 to expand Destin’s law enforcement coverage. He will enforce traffic laws and ordinances, hold radar certification for speeders, and conduct breathalyzer tests. Kinney, 27, notes the job brings both support and potential enmity, as the city hires a third deputy from Okaloosa County. Coverage rises from 80 to 120 hours weekly to bolster safety. Kinney previously volunteered with the sheriff's posse and left a banking job to pursue policing, saying he enjoys the excitement and has no regrets.
