Tarpon Tale On Destin Beach Aboard Finest Kind
Henry Hinkel and Capt. Browning aboard Finest Kind along the Destin coast hooked two Tarpon from a school of about 30 near El Matador Condominiums. Mate Scott Robson cast live bait, the first tarpon took the bait immediately and both fish leaped as the crew trailed the school for about 30 minutes.

Tarpon Tale From Destin Charter Boat Capture
Destin charter boat Finest Kind crewed by Robson Hinkel and Tom Banachowicz battled two tarpon, one around 95 pounds and another 66, with a lengthy fight exceeding an hour. The larger fish slipped free after a protracted gaffing attempt, while Robson’s 66 pounder became notable as the first tarpon caught on a private Destin boat in 1974. Tarpon migration brings 150-plus pound fish into the area during spring and mid-summer, with sightings around piers and along the coast.
