Emerald Coast Tourist Development Council reviewed 18 months of work and outlined future goals at Tops's. Plans include an Emerald Coast directory and magazine, travel agent sales blitzes, adver torial space in magazines, brochures, and a higher dues structure to fund guides and promotions.

Parallel span proposed as cheaper Destin bridge option

Okaloosa officials support a parallel three lane span beside the Brooks Bridge to ease traffic and enable emergency access. Estimated at about 8 million dollars, the plan would require land acquisitions but costs far less than the 22 million Wright Parkway option. Destin leaders endorse the idea, while noting a bay crossing from White Point to Piney Point remains the longer term fix.
