Pleasant Dreams Inventor Buckwalter Puts Sleep Ease On Market
Destin's Jim Buckwalter invented Sleep-Mate and Marsona sound conditioners after a wartime need to stay alert during long Catalina flights. From basement beginnings to Sears catalogs, mail order and a 1981 boost from Ann Landers, his devices eased noise with targeted white sound and acoustical perfume. Now with 30 workers in North Carolina and 40 during Christmas, Buckwalter envisions miniaturized, rechargeable models and continued diversification.
