Forestry Fines Utility for Fire Suppression Costs
State forestry officials fined Junger Utility and Paving Company 2950.23 for extinguishing an out of control burn that charred 1214 acres in South Walton on April 1. District Forester W L Jensen said the bill reflects tractor and man hours used. The fire spread with a second blaze over 1300 acres, forcing evacuations and keeping crews busy for two days. A separate case saw Michele Salera fined 37.50 for allowing a second blaze near County Road 393 North.
