County Won't Change Access For Crash Truck
Okaloosa County commissioners refused a Destin Fire Department request to build a direct access road from Fire Station No. 2 to Destin Airport runway. A clay shell road to the runway would cost about 10 200 with materials at 4 000, while a 100 foot extension past a widened gate is planned. Airport Manager Coy Thomason and Assistant Fire Chief Hank Berry urged a hard surface at the gate, but the board approved a 100 foot road extension and gate improvements for faster entry.
