Firm Ends Protest, 98 Project Ready To Roll

Couch Construction Co of Dothan says it is ready to begin clearing land for the 7.4 mile U.S. 98 inland relocation from Airport Road to South Walton County. DOT and Okaloosa Asphalt withdrew their protest amid a pending hearing, with Couch expecting a contract within days and construction to start immediately.

Destin Boosts February Building Permits Over 2.1 Million

Destin’s February construction activity rose to more than 2.1 million dollars, led by a 306,400 dollar office building by Destin Architectural Group on Highway 98. The month also saw multiple townhouses, condos, a 60,000 dollar animal hospital, and several pools and additions shaping a stronger local building market.
