State Faces Showdown On Docks Moratorium
A state official says next week’s cabinet meeting will decide if a moratorium on docks construction in Old Pass Lagoon will be imposed and whether projects with prior state agency approval should be exempt. Destin developer Art Hill, whose 39-slip project near East Pass Towers gained DEA net environmental benefit approval, contends his new facility should be exempt from the moratorium. The meeting follows DNR input favoring a halt on large new facilities while allowing case by case decisions on reconstruction and existing docks.
