Destin's Tax Hike Expected From Revaluation and Growth
Destin's assessed tax valuation will rise to 430 million for the coming year, up from 278 million last year and 12 million a decade ago. Half the increase comes from new construction, the rest from re evaluation. Higher operating funds will affect county and school budgets, while Laurel Hill and Niceville residents face relief from millage shifts.

Tying Up Loose Ends On County Actions This Week
The board replaced a 1956 booze resolution with an ordinance via emergency action, preserving drinking hours. It also amended an outdoor sales ban to include promotion of time share brochures on beaches, faced no public objections, and passed. New townhouse parking fixes on the beach were approved, and Calhoun Park will be fully fenced with a repaired gate within three weeks. A surplus foam truck for the Destin Fire District was authorized for immediate requisition serving the new airport station. Miscellaneous items included county treasures at the Air Terminal, confiscated items turned to the Sheriff, and a debated Okaloosa Island golf course franchise.
