Wallop-Breaux Funds Targeted in Budget Move
The Reagan administration proposed diverting 25 million from Wallop-Breaux trust funds to the U S Fish and Wildlife Service budget. Wallop-Breaux funds, sourced from fishing and boating taxes, support state fisheries programs and are distributed on a three to one matching basis. Critics argue the shift undermines sportsmen and budget balance aims while states reportedly could use more money.
