Emergency Maneuver Fatal Crash Involving Eglin Jet
A training flight likely performing an engine out emergency maneuver ended in the crash of a C-21A Lear jet near Montgomery. Two pilots, Maj. Charles Sullivan and Lt. Vincent Michael, were killed. Lt. William Kelley was injured and later listed in satisfactory condition. The jet, assigned to Eglin's Detachment 4, 1402nd MAS, had departed Maxwell to pick up parts and was practicing touch and go landings at Dannelly Field when it crashed. An investigation board is evaluating the cause.
