Dockery nicknamed Doc was born in 1909 and named for Orville Wright, growing into a 65 year aviation career. He learned to fly as a child in 1916 at Fort Sill, later delivering planes and crop dusting before joining Delta Air and mentoring pilots like Braniff and Will Rogers. He flew with Lindbergh, taught Amelia Earhart acquaintances, and worked as a test pilot and four engine instructor during WWII.
