Landfill Fee Cut For Carcasses By Okaloosa County
Okaloosa County commissioners cut the proposed tipping fee for disposing dead animals and fish carcasses. The new charge will be 5 per pickup truck load starting January, down from 40 proposed by the county task force. McNezin urged the reduction, warning the higher fee could drive waste into the Gulf or Eglin reservation. The motion passed unanimously.
