The Tourist Development Council publicity committee proposes March 18 as the main date for a public vote on a bed tax for tourism development with March 25 and May 6 as backups. Election eligibility targets residents in the affected area, and promotion plus referendum costs are estimated at 12 000 to 15 000 dollars. The full TDC will meet Monday to discuss these dates.
A Pensacola National Weather Service spokesman warned Destin residents to prepare for freezing temperatures this weekend.
