Florida Highway Patrol boots up Get Tough policy
Florida Highway Patrol began strict enforcement of defective equipment starting October 1. Col. Bobby Burkett said October arrests reached 3,304 for serious violations and 44,086 faulty equipment notices were issued. January to October totals include 315,602 correction cards. Top violations: 1,122 tires 694 taillights 541 mufflers 405 headlights 189 brakes. Fine is 15 dollars.
