Suburbia Faces Aging Population Shift Says UF Research
University of Florida geographer Stephen Galant notes that only a small share of older Americans relocate from cities to rural areas between 1975 and 1980, with most aging in place or moving to suburbs. He warns suburbs aren’t ready for increased elder services like transportation, home care, and health care, and cites census figures to counter the rural move myth.
