Migratory Hunt Dates Announced for 1983 Florida
The Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission released migratory bird dates for 1983-84 in Florida. Marsh hen season runs Sept 1 to Nov 9 with a five day early duck period Sept 24-28. Mourning dove phases run Oct 1-30 then Nov 12-27 and Dec 10-Jan 2 with hunting noon to sunset first phase and all day thereafter.

Quota Hunt Permits Open At Florida Areas
As of July 25 the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission has received 49 962 requests for quota hunt permits. Popular wildlife management areas are full while others still have permits for the first nine days of the general gun season after the random drawing. Quota permits are issued on a first come first served basis and hunters are urged to apply promptly to secure a spot. Special hunts have reached quotas after drawings. Application forms and instructions are available at county tax collectors offices or subagents such as sporting goods stores and gun shops. Check daily bag limits and legal shooting hours before hunting migratory game. Migratory game laws follow the Commission and U S Fish and Wildlife Service.
