Saltwater license bill draws Destin fishing interest
A Florida saltwater fishing license proposal moves through the Natural Resources and Conservation subcommittee. The bill by Sen. Tom McPherson would require anglers over 16 to be licensed for non commercial marine fishing with $7 residents and $20 non residents. Head boat, charter boat, and pier operators face annual fees up to 100 dollars. Critics warn fees will hurt families and charter businesses, while supporters cite funds for fisheries research and enforcement.
