Runnels backs regional airport near I-10 corridor
Walton and Okaloosa leaders discuss a regional airport on the north side of the county near Interstate 10 to optimize traffic and growth. Runnels says land would be cheaper there and that a terminal should serve northern Walton or Okaloosa, with a bridge across Choctawhatchee Bay seen as essential for north south transport. The plan also aims to guide growth, not take over local zoning, and relies on higher gas taxes to fund expansion.
