Three committees of the Destin City Council schedule meetings this week at City Hall. The Finance Committee meets at 5 p.m. Thursday April 25. At 7 p.m. Thursday a Recreation Committee session and a Planning Commission workshop are planned in separate offices. Public attendance is invited.
A field hearing of a Veterans' Affairs subcommittee will be held in Niceville on Friday May 3 at Okaloosa WalTon Junior College. Testimony is invited from Florida veterans groups and Veterans Administration officials. A separate court hearing in Tallahassee on April 25 will determine the outcome of the District 5 state House race between James Ward and Robert Harden.
State officials advance plans to modify the Henderson Beach State Recreation Area entry road off Highway 98. The design includes 600 feet of stacking space and a long westbound turn lane to reduce highway congestion, with a late 1985 completion target and a 50 cent general admission fee option.
Derelict vehicles are loaded for transport by barge to an artificial reef site. The operation streams toward marine restoration with equipment and crews staging along the harbor.
City council reappointed Kathy Waits Jane Moore Rod Himes and Ken Cauley to four year terms on the Planning Commission and Evelyn Drowne Tom Stoffels and John W Moore to two year terms on the Board of Adjustment. New BOA terms include Jim Klorer Al Brown Roger Paluzzi Charles Stokes J L Benton Bob Janca and Joe Mizell. Awards were also given for the Destin City Logo Contest with winners Leonard Crook D R Williams Andrew Dier Brian Sauls and a $50 prize.
