Crushed by Wall at Macy Construction Site

Weston Mavity, contractor in charge, was crushed when a wall caved in on him at a concrete house site three miles southwest of Macy. He suffered fractures and internal injuries, was taken to his Rus­siaville home Tuesday and rests easier with a chance for recovery.

Joseph Smith and M M Dukes attended the funeral of J R Powell at the Enterprise Church near Gilead on Sunday. Powell was a Civil War comrade of Smith and a boyhood playmate of Dukes.

Excellent Children’s Day Program at Denver M E Church

The Denver M E Church hosted an outstanding Children’s Day program Sunday evening with the young ladies class aiding in singing. The children's work impressed, the church was crowded, and decor aimed to make the platform look like a large room. Proceeds from the collection supported the church’s Children's Educational Fund.

Old resident Samuel Musselman, aged over ninety five, living north of Chili, has been very ill in recent weeks. Officials note age as the cause of his declining health, though he shows some improvement as this item goes to press.

Eleventh Friend and Cress Family Reunion Held Near Denver

The eleventh annual reunion for the Friend and Cress families gathered about 150 relatives in a grove south of Denver last Sunday. A noon dinner was served despite cloudy morning and rain indications. the weather cleared to a sunny June day. Visitors joined in the afternoon, including two cars from Silver Lake and Ed Pontius and wife of Miami. Relatives who could not attend sent letters read at the business session. Obituary of Mrs. Hettie Pearson, age over ninety two, read. she had been the oldest member. Old officers were re elected for another year.

Child Burns From Boiling Starch Incident Near Denver

Evelyn Swope two years old daughter of Mr and Mrs John Swope three miles northwest of Denver received severe burns Monday morning after falling into a pan of hot starch prepared for washing. Dr Waymire treated the injuries which are very painful but not considered dangerous.

Fred Sands Severely Bruised After Cherry Picking Fall

Fred Sands of east Denver slipped while picking cherries at home last Wednesday and struck the ground hard. He sustained severe bruising and could not work for several days.

W Long and son shipped three car loads of hogs last Saturday with one car from Pettysville and two from Denver. Two more car loads were sent from Denver on Tuesday. The event featured horse and motorcycle races saloon ascension a baseball game and a general good time.

Mrs. Louie C. Phillips died Thursday morning at her daughter’s home south of Denver from stomach and liver disease. She was buried in Kewanna after funeral services at the Denver residence officiated by Rev. A. Gloyd. She leaves six children including W. A. Phillips of this place and Myrtle Armantrout. two grandchildren Loyd Phillips and LeRoy Kleinschmidt. a great granddaughter. brother Joseph Shick of Kewanna. and sister Mrs. Mary Burns of Ohio.
