Sixty Peru merchants ran Twin Dollar Days last Friday and Saturday. The venture drew thousands of shoppers who found many bargains and the crowds on Saturday resembled a circus scene. The event proved successful and is expected to spur further joint sales ventures.

A new Ford purchaser set out with friends, the car stalled after half an hour, a hood check revealed no engine. He noted the joke before the vehicle refused to move, the car having run twelve miles on its reputation.

Tragic Drowning of Vernon Pugh in Farm Tank

Vernon Charleo Pugh, 15 months old, died Saturday afternoon after slipping into a cement tank behind his family farm near Peru Mexico. The tank, once ornamental, was used to water cattle and stood about ten feet wide with water nearly three feet deep. boards around the edge loosened allowing the child to squeeze through. The coroner ruled death by drowning. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Brethren in Mexico with burial in Dunkard cemetery.

Jefferson Township Commencement at Mexico Church

The Jefferson Township Common School Commencement will be held at the Brethren Church in Mexico next Saturday evening. Prof. Otho Winger of North Manchester Normal will deliver the class address. Exercises begin at eight o clock with graduates to be in church by seven thirty.

A severe wind and rain storm visited this county Sunday with hail in places. The system was widespread across the state and in some spots resembled a cyclone. Local wind caused little damage, though some wheat was beaten down. most should recover as heads are still developing.
