Official Route for Alder Shows With Large Crowds

Reports from Alder show a fine season with large crowds at all performances. The coming week’s route includes Mt Ayre on Thursday June 1 Morocco on Friday Brook on Saturday Kentland on Monday Earl Park on Tuesday and Fowler on Wednesday June 7.

Denver Sunday School team travels to Macy for Saturday game

Saturday afternoon the Denver Sunday School ball team will face Macy Sunday School in Macy. Other matches include Twelve Mile against Bunker Hill Baptist at Bunker Hill and Bunker Hill Methodist versus Mexico at Mexico.

An ice cream social will be held at the residence of J Stuber, half a mile east of Ebenezer Church, Saturday evening June 3 1916. Ice cream cake cracker jack pop etc will be served. Everybody invited.

Decoration Day Observed by Denver Community

Decoration Day was observed with fitin g ceremonies in Denver. Rev J M Baker spoke at the Methodist church in the forenoon, veterans decorated graves in the cemetery, Rev Nyce spoke at Chili in the afternoon, and a large evening program at the Denver Methodist church featured the Denver orchestra and various patriotic numbers.

Ft Wayne Centennial Celebration Attracts Denver Visitors

Denver residents are urged to attend Ft Wayne's week long Centennial Celebration featuring a six day Industrial Exposition opening Monday, a historic pageant Tuesday to Thursday, and the floral auto parade on Thursday. Taft is listed as attending Thursday. The celebration is described as the biggest week in Ft Wayne history with parades and thrilling acts.

Mrs English in Critical Condition After Stroke

Mrs John English living south of Courter is critically ill after a paralytic stroke suffered Tuesday evening. She is reported in very dangerous condition with small hopes for recovery.

Jefferson Township Commencement at Denver Methodist Church

The Jefferson Township Common School Commencement will be held at the Denver Methodist Church next Wednesday evening June 7 at eight o'clock. Rev. J. H. Runkle Knightstown will deliver the class address titled The School of Life. Music by the Denver Orchestra. A section is reserved for graduates' parents. Obituary for John G. Han of Union Township

John G. Han born April 9 1863 in Union Township died May 28 1916 at Robt W Long Hospital Indianapolis aged 53 years 1 month 19 days He married Eliza E Mason in 1885 and had five children Elgin L Deedsville L Brundell Joplin Montana L Dale Peru Hobart and Letha He joined the United Brethren Church early and renewed faith in 1914 remaining a faithful member His illness lasted nearly two years and he was a kind husband father and neighbor who will be missed.

Solomon M. Lee Dies After Lingering Illness

Solomon M. Lee of Deedsville died last Thursday after a long illness. He was over seventy two and a longtime resident of Union Township. A member of the German Reformed Church and the I O O F lodge at Deedsville, he was funeralized Saturday at the Deedsville U B Church with Rev Luckenbill of Columbian City officiating. Burial followed in the I O O F Cemetery.

Denver Brethren Church Wins Six Week Sunday School Contest

The Denver Sunday School defeated Peru in a six week church contest, with 156 pupils at Denver and 167 at Peru. Denver raised $193.20 compared to Peru’s $50.89, and superintendent Clarence Flora praised the pupils for their support.

Mr and Mrs William Fennimore of St Cloud Florida arrived in Denver Tuesday morning to attend decoration day services at the Methodist church. They visited with George W Fennimore in Bridgeport Alabama and Willard Wooding in Fort Wayne Indiana before returning home, planning more visits in Indiana Illinois and Ohio.
