Missionary Meeting Reports Church Plans and Repairs

The society held its regular monthly meeting at the church. Plans for the year were discussed and a good program carried out. After adjournment the parsonage was inspected and found clean and in good repair with outside work needed soon. Reported by Mrs. A. G. Zook in June.

Baber Undergoes Successful Operation in Huntington

On Friday IX Baker entered Huntington Hospital for treatment of a long standing side trouble. His son Ted traveled from Akron to Denver and Mrs Baber joined him for the operation performed at nine o'clock. The surgeon called it a complete success and Mr Baber quickly rallied with marked improvement. Hope for a full recovery remains.

Shafer and Haines wed in quiet Peru ceremony

Miss Flora Shafer and Claude Haines were married at Rev. A M Bailey's home of the First Baptist Church in Peru at 9 30 Sunday morning in the presence of relatives. A wedding dinner followed at the Shafer home in Denver. The couple plans to set up housekeeping as friends extend congratulations.

Phoebe Diebert Hutchison 1839 1916 obituary Near Topeka Kansas

Phoebe Diebert Hutchison died May 22 1916 at her home near Topeka Kansas after a short illness. Born near Denver Indiana she married Edmund Hutchison May 28 1863 and would have celebrated 54th wedding anniversary. Survived by husband and six children she was a Baptist church member in North Topeka.

Jefferson Township Highs Graduation at Denver M E Church

Twenty two graduates of Jefferson township schools received diplomas in a crowded Denver M E Church service. Rev J H Runkle of Knights Town delivered the address on lifelong preparation for work. Supt E B Wetherow spoke on centralization and better schools as diplomas were presented. Music by Zula Long Mable Maus a ladies quartet and the Denver orchestra.

County Commencement Programs Set For Wallace Theatre

Printed programs announce a joint township commencement at Wallace Theatre Peru next Saturday afternoon. Denver Hitch Racks Repaired On Main Streets

The Commercial Club repaired town hitch racks to aid farmers driving horses to Denver. The rack east of Baker's store is fixed and the rack near Garritson's store was moved to south Payson street by Ream's Grocery. Repairs near the post office are planned soon. Farmers are invited to test the updated hitching spots.

A Thursday evening shower at the Haines home on Payson Street honored Miss Flora Shafer prior to her marriage to Claude Haines. About fifty guests attended and gifted items filled the room. J W Ellis of south Denver has suffered a diseased ankle bone from a Civil War gunshot wound. On Tuesday morning doctors Waymire Spooner and Line operated to ease his pain. Reportes say he rests easily and shows improvement as the press goes to print.
