James Rhineberger born June 6 1851 in Erie Township Miami County died July 21 1916 near Mexico Indiana at age 65 1 15 after farming and public service as Deputy Sheriff and Sheriff of Peru Miami Lodge 67 Masons member wife Rhoda North two children Edna and George surviving sister survivors include two sisters two nephews one grandchild and a widow. He lived much of his life in Peru and Denver Indiana.
Dr. Matthew Baber of Roann nearly drowned Wednesday at Luken's Lake. Lloyd Lewis pulled him to shore after Baber sank twice, revived him on the bank, and Baber credits Lewis with saving his life.

Sarah E. Matthias, daughter of Jacob and Anna Matthias, was born May 29, 1850 in Union Township Indiana and died July 10, 1916 at age 66. She joined Mt Zion Reformed Church in 1879 and leaves three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at Mt Zion Church with Elder Fisher presiding.
A reunion and picnic for alumni of the Denver School under teachers P. S. Sullivan Simon Fisher and J. D. Richer will be held at Peru City Park on Sunday August 20. Attendees are urged to bring well filled baskets and participate in a short program sharing amusing school memories.
In Kokomo the contractor Noah Arnest oversees the ice plant construction site. Details are limited but the project progresses under his supervision.
James D Rhineberger aged about 65 died suddenly in a hay field on the Abe Miller farm two miles south of Denver. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage after working with Owen Murphy and Marion Miller. Funeral services were held at his home with Masonic honors. burial in Mexico cemetery. Survived by a widow, son George Rhineberger of Peru, daughter Mrs Ralph Greer, and two sisters. Rhineberger had served as Miami County sheriff from 1888 to 1892 and was a longtime active citizen.
Centennial event at Conner's Grove Eel River near Mexico Indiana features music by the Mexico Schools groups and local choirs. Talks on Jefferson Township settlement and remaining Indians with relics exhibition led by C F Fite. Notify to contribute relics and attend for a day of programs and dinner.
William C. Swope, 60, died at Peru city hospital after months with Bright's disease. Funeral at United Brethren church Deedsville with burial in I O O F cemetery. Survived by widow, several children, and siblings including daughters Mrs Cleve Ege and Mrs Elmer Lantz.
Harry Metzger, about 42, died at his Logansport home Monday evening after a lingering illness from Brights disease. A Miami County native, he worked at the Logansport Reporter as circulation manager, later co owned the Journal and served as Secretary Treasurer of the Journal Tribune. Burial was in Logansport Cemetery.
