Miami County Centennial Week Promises Big Peru Celebration

Miami County plans a week of events in Peru August 14 to 19 to mark Indiana's centennial. Services on Sunday 18th open the week with picnics parades pageants and speeches daily. The Miami County Historical Society will display relics at the Peru library with a large exhibit and relics collection. Merchants offer sales to draw crowds and clear summer stocks.

Ice Cream Festival and Orchestra Concert in Denver

A large Ice Cream festival and Orchestra Concert will be held Thursday evening August 10 1916 at the Methodist Church in Denver Indiana. Proceeds go to buy new music and the program features the Denver Orchestra noted as the best in the region. The concert is free with ice cream cake and popcorn served. All are invited.

Jefferson Township centennial celebration and picnic at Conner's grove near Mexico drew about five hundred attendees in the afternoon after a threshing lull. Speakers Rev G B Work and Rev William Bender praised local history, with performances by Y W C A girls and the Mexico schools and remarks by Hal C Phelps and Miss Elliott highlighting Indiana Centennial plans.
