Secret orders and a court verdict endangers fraternal rites

A Kansas City jury awarded Lenna Winslow 1000 damages against the Order of Macabees for injuries during initiation four years ago. Winslow, formerly of Kokomo, was blindfolded and pushed from a plank three feet high. a kidney was dislocated and never united. Guards weighed 250-plus pounds each. Winslow faces permanent impairment and inability to work. The judge praised the jury for the verdict.
