The Brethren Church announces a 9:30 a.m. Sunday School led by Superintendent Omer Flora, with morning and evening services at 10:30 and 7:00 p.m. The topics are The Sonship and Obedience of Jesus and Salvation from the Hebrew Prophets View Point. Christian Endeavor at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday choir practice at 7:00 p.m. Public invited.
The Epworth League will meet at 6:1 for the devotional service. Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. at Mw. E Church. Alvin F. White is the pastor and invites the public to attend all services.

Jerry Burkholder died at his home after a lengthy illness from Brights disease and heart trouble. Funeral services were held at his home Sunday at two, with burial in Mt. Zion cemetery conducted by Rev. Melton of the Baptist Church.

The 1919 Red Cross drive in Denver uses white star displays in home windows to indicate every adult in the household is a Red Cross member. School children’s memberships are not counted toward the 100 percent goal. White stars should be visible in windows across the city.
Robert Judson infant son of Mr and Mrs Lee Long born Thursday night December 12th was laid to rest Friday afternoon at two o'clock in the Chili cemetery.

The Farmers Bank of Denver Indiana has increased its capital to 25000 dollars and reorganized as Citizens State Bank with 25000 dollar paid in capital and 2500 dollar surplus. The bank buys Farmers Bank's business at book value and stockholders become new bankers including Henry Lewis and 21 others. The meeting elected the same board of directors and officers for the new bank with Russell D Haines promoted to assistant cashier.
George William Mowrey 16, son of George R and Rosie Mowrey, was born August 5 1902 in Denver Indiana. He lived in Peru with his parents since moving two years ago and died December 9 1918 after a ten day illness from influenza. He leaves his parents two brothers and two sisters and many friends. Funeral text is John 14 6 I am the Way the Truth and the Life.
Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Murphy entertained at their Washington street home on Thursday December 12 recalling fifties Woolleytown school days. Guests included Columbus Murphy Emeline Norris Rochester F M Moody Deedsville along with Mrs Almedia Medsker Butte Mont Samantha Murphy Chili Samantha Brower Elizabeth Kirby Maggie Cunningham and Della Cover Denver. The meal ended with fond reminiscences.

Merritt Flora aged about sixty five died Wednesday evening at his home two and a half miles northeast of Chili after a cancer of the liver illness. Funeral held Friday afternoon with services at the residence and burial in Mexico cemetery. Survived by widow two sons and two daughters. A son Ralph died at Camp Sheridan Alabama on October 21 after influenza. body brought to Mexico cemetery.
Local notices report Chase Wright slowly recovering from pneumonia after a week in critical condition. Miss Sapho Wright and Mrs. S. M. Waggoner and several children show improvement from influenza. John Fahl, Dale Raber, and Anna Gustin face severe flu in varying forms with mixed recovery progress. Mrs. Daniel Scott remains in critical heart condition.
